Wiitard strap-ons

Everyone leaves Lukas

Tess and Reebs left for Morocco. Mollie moves out in a few days. No more girlfriend. No more sister. At least I have the Wii to keep me company. And Fredo.

You guys can still blog even if you don't live here no more.

You might be able to track Tess and Reebs at blondemuslim.blogspot.com...

Gambling

I won 100$ on a single blackjack bet so I offered to buy Alex a drink. They wouldn't give him a double strawberry daquiri, so this was his solution:

Also I got bit by a seal. So all in all one of the most exciting weekends in a long time...

Easter Keg Hunt

I guess it's kind of late to post about it, but damn Mamie's idea for an Easter Keg hunt was pure genius.

Hit me baby one more time...

I'm normally not a fan of the "YouTube made me a star because I like to lip synch in front of my computer and record it" genre of videos, but this one shouldn't be missed.

Friday, March 23, 2007

In the next few weeks, hundreds of thousands of baby seals will be cruelly clubbed or shot-an annual harp seal slaughter endorsed by the Canadian government. Scores of baby seals, some as young as three weeks old, will be beaten or shot and left to die. Some will even be skinned alive.StoptheSealHunt.org ( http://www.kintera.org/TR.asp?ID=M7248921213750492142285765 ) is your number one resource to stay up to date on what's happening at this year's hunt and to meet other seal activists from around the world. The new interactive site features a Seal Hunt blog with daily updates from Canada, audio podcasts, and videos and photos from IFAW hunt monitors at the scene of the hunt. You'll also receive information on how to take action as well as multiple ways to enlist others to support our fight against this inhumane practice.

"Your date's over, mister"

It looked for all the world as if the couple on a date -- he was darkly handsome and a little older than the pretty, petite blonde with the Russian accent -- were having a great time together.
"A really great time," their waitress, Karri Cormican, recalled thinking. "She was facing him, had one of her legs up on the bench seat." Good body language.
So it came as a shock when after the woman left the window-side table to visit the restroom, Cormican saw the man shake a white powder into the Hefeweizen beer he had ordered for his date.

Katamari Damacy creator doesn't hate everything

This is interesting to me, because I honestly thought this guy hated everything. Why not make Katamari for Wii?! Wiimote is the greatest development since the Power Glove!

from http://www.boingboing.net/2007/03/15/new_katamari_damacy_.html

When you read translated interviews with Takahashi in the American press, you get the impression that he brashly hates everything. In reality, this is only partially true. He's actually pretty shy person, and you quickly realize it's not "I hate everything", but honest, thoughtful opinion — his vision is so specific, and many things don't live up to his expectations and their potential. What also doesn't come across in the press is his dry sense of humor and mischievousness — his critiques are generally said with a sly smile and a laugh, as if he knows he's being marginally ridiculous by admitting, for example, that he didn't really like Mother 3.

That's not to say I have him fully figured out. We know he has a low tolerance for anyone who takes the "safe road". So, you'd think he'd be a huge fan of the convention-shunning Nintendo Wii system, right? Wrong! He's currently playing the GameCube version of Twilight Princess, intentionally avoiding the Wii version! Why? Who knows! The lesson? Takahashi will keep you guessing, but in a good way: you'll be suprised, confused, and delighted, just like when you play his games.

Robosapien movie

I tried to post earlier about robosapiens, "flame throwers" (much weaker than it sounds) and coil guns to no avail - youtube videos don't seem to work since blogger accounts were all googlified.

There is going to be a robosapien movie though - directed by Avi Arad - the producer of Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3; X-Men: The Last Stand; Ghost Rider; The Hulk; Daredevil; The Punisher; Elektra; and Fantastic Four. He is the executive producer of Spider-Man; X-Men and X2: X-Men United; Blade, Blade II and Blade: Trinity.

Secret blogs

It is past 10 on a friday night and I am posting about some blogs. One secret blog that has recently come to light is http://mikelove.wordpress.com/2007/01/. Another secret blog is http://boccebragadoccio.blogspot.com/. The final secret blog is unbeknownst to me. But I will keep you loyal readers posted.

Bad press, new blog

So after this blog got emailed out to all my coworkers, I had another embarrassing work thing happen where I got a lot of negative press on tech crunch and other blogs. You can check out the video: www.techcrunch.com/2007/02/12/powerhype-at-powerset. The upshot is that I realized that I need a blog that I can point people to that is not this one :). I haven't been showing it to many people yet, but you can check it out at www.artificial-artificial-intelligence.com. Leave some comments and tell me what you think!

Privacy

So my CEO, Barney, emailed out that last post to the whole company. But you know what? I'm glad. Yesterday I was reading my coworker's blogs and I was like wow, I have connections with them that I never would have known about. I don't want to be a different person at work and with my friends. So there it is. And here's another picture of me looking like an idiot in Costa Rica, with two ladies who run the Sigma Squared salon in Victoria, CA. (www.sigma2.ca).

Let's not start sipping* on each others popsicles just yet

Powerset, Bondage

Everyone at work is fighting about what programming language they like so I'm gonna take a break to post on this blog.

Powerset had a big press release and an article in the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/09/technology/09license.html?ref=technology. Meanwhile all the bloggers found all the blogs of people in the company except mine. It's funny how personal some of them are: for example Tim, currently my manager and friend from Yahoo has this blog that I never knew about: http://timconverse.com/blog/.

I never write my full name here so that it will never come up in search engines, but now I'm wondering, do I really care? One of the best things about my new job is that my coworkers are closer to being friends. I can joke about smoking pot, looking at porn etc. So maybe it doesn't matter. If they don't like it they can always pretend they didn't see it.

On that note, last night Tess and I went to a David Lynch movie at the Castro and then an afterparty at the current studios of kink.com, a bondage porn site. It was crazy all the different stages they had set up. The fake jail, the fake stable, etc. I hope I can figure out a way to go check them out after they move into the armory (http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&ct=us/0-0&fp=45ccf6892c7f6286&ei=ZMrMRa20LojyoQL44f3WBQ&url=http%3A//cbs5.com/local/local_story_039205738.html&cid=1113400426)

All Asians look the same

Take the test to see how racist/ignorant you are.

Considering that both my roommate (from Beijing) and I scored a 6 out of 18, I think it's safe to say that all Asians really do look the same.

at my job we are going to put it in babies!

Dairy and feeder cows in this country and around the world are given this large, almost fist-sized magnet, which is forced down their esophagus and lodges in one of the four stomachs, the rumen, to prevent or treat “farm machinery” disease. These ruminants eat metal objects like baling wire, barbed wire, nails, which can perforate the intestine and cause disease or death. This is prevented by the metal objects sticking to the magnet. At slaughter, the magnet is retrieved and often reused. This is common practice in the United States and most parts of the world.
